TMJ

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services National Institutes of Health,  TMJ (temporomandibular joint) and muscle disorders, are a group of conditions that cause pain and dysfunction in the jaw joint and the muscles that control jaw movement. We don’t know for certain how many people have TMJ disorders, but some estimates suggest that over 10 million Americans are affected.

Dr. Satko utilizes a interdisciplinary approach after obtaining your diagnosis. Most cases can be managed conservatively using a course of physical therapy, occlusal orthotics, non-invasive bite splints, short term medications, and most importantly, education in self-management of this condition.

We know TMJ

Dr. Satko obtained her masters degree in the area of TMJ research. She trained for two years at the University of Illinois at Chicago TMJ Research Center under her mentors Dr. Daniel Laskin and Dr. Charles Greene. She prescribes a proprietary TMJ orthotic and protocol.
